History of Jersey Village, TX
The 1936 Harris County highway map showed several residences in the Jersey Village area. Clark W Henry owned of land on which he operated F&M Dairy and raised Jersey cattle, but discontinued his diary when his health declined so that it could be used for residential purposes instead starting early 1954 with five miles (8 km) streets within town limits; drainage systems were also installed at this time by Le Roy Kennedy who later became mayor before donating these assets toward development.
The first family moved to the subdivision in late October of 1954. They quickly realized that there was no school, park, or golf course close by for their children so they built one themselves! Incorporation proceedings for Jersey Village began on April 16th, 1956 with all 58 votes approving incorporation by a margin vote enough volunteers who would serve as police officers during this time frame too – roughly 493 residents lived within its boundaries at this point. On July 6th, 1972 Leonard Rauch gave us his own version of city hall; today it houses fire department offices plus public works equipment which helps make sure everything runs smoothly.
When the city of Jersey Village was first incorporated, it had only 822 residents. By 1977 this number had grown to 1,979 people and in 1982 over 4 thousand were living there!
